- Start by removing the upholstery. This will give you access to the screws that hold the chair together. To do this, first remove any nails or staples that are holding the fabric in place. If there are no nails or staples, the fabric is likely held in place with Velcro strips. Use a flathead screwdriver to pry the strips off. Once the upholstery is removed, set it aside.
2. Locate the screws that hold the back of the chair to the frame. There will be two screws on each side of the chairback. Use a Phillips head screwdriver to remove these screws and set them aside.
3. Locate the screws that hold the seat bottom in place. There will be four screws, one on each corner of the seat bottom. Use a Phillips head screwdriver to remove these screws and set them aside as well.
4. Now it’s time to remove the springs from the chair frame. The springs are what give the chair its reclining action, so they need to be taken out carefully so they can be reused later. To do this, first use a flathead screwdriver to pry off any spring clips that are holding the springs in place on the frame. Once the clips are removed, gently pull the springs out of their holes in the frame using your hands. Set them aside with the other hardware for reassembly later.
5. With all of the major components now removed, you can gently separate the back from the seat bottom. Pull them apart at an angle from each other until they come apart completely. Be careful not to lose any small pieces or hardware during this step! You should now have three main pieces: The backrest ,the seat bottom, and the frame. You can now move these pieces separately for storage or transport.
6. Lastly ,don ’t forget to re-assemble in chronological order when you're ready to do so. Put all of those tiny pieces and parts back together carefully according to how you took them apart earlier. And that's it—you did it! Your old recliner has been disassembled and is now ready to be safely stored away or transported to its new home.
